Added Functionality

Functionality

Web sites today can have added functionality. The main ones are blogging, galleries, calendaring, and content management .

Blogging

Blogging is everywhere on all kinds of sites and can be available to the individual web site owner. Businesses can use blogs to make announcements. From wikipedia, blogging is explained as follows:

A blog is a web site where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order.

Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic.

The term "blog" is derived from "Web log." "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Galleries

Galleries are places where photo albums, artwork, or other items can be displayed, in thumbnail style and can be clicked on to show a larger close up. Closely related to galleries are shopping carts (for an additional fee). Shopping carts can show merchandise of all kinds and gives a place for customers to place orders and shop for various items.

Calendars

Calendaring is another add on that shows promise. The new calendaring are interactive with users being able to be added. This kind of calendaring is good for small businesses, small non-profit groups, or types of groups who want to be able to add events to the calendar and track various things on an ongoing basis.

Content Management System

Content management systems where the owner can easily change content can run from simple to more complex. I offer a very simple content management system that is very easy to maintain and requires only a few simple commands from the manager.

These are some of the many choices available for web site owners and can be used by businesses, families, social groups, etc--taking interactivity a step further.
